The piano is a versatile instrument that can play more than one note at a time. This acoustic, stringed instrument was invented in Italy in 1709 by a harpsichord maker Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. Its sound is produced from a keyboard system that uses hammers to strike strings, and it falls into the gray area in between string, percussion and keyboard families.
It is a good choice for most beginners as learning piano can help build a solid foundation in music itself. It is the preferred choice of many composers as it offers the flexibility of creating rich solos by combining melodies, which is not the case with most other instruments.
At Arcadia Performing Arts Academy, our specialist teacher will help pupils learn the fundamentals of the piano, develop technique and understand and apply music theory and harmony. We will help them learn to read notes and gradually master the instrument. As teaching piano requires personalised attention, we only offer individual lessons.
